Numerical modeling of water hammer in long water transmission pipeline

Abstract In the present study, a water transmission pipeline under steady conditions is modeled followed by examining transient flow created failure of pumps in pipeline. This 31 km from Kerman, Iran. The software analysis results were compared with those numerical model for laboratory test to validate modeling. While flows are pump failure, various areas pipelines will be affected waves produced. Long pipelines, usually large diameter and rate, pose problems negative pressure phase. causes threatening like column separation cavitation. indicated that using equipment air valves when fail alone does not have appropriate efficiency eliminating hazards pipelines. More examination showed installing feed hydropneumatic tanks along length right places prevents risk significantly reduces.
